3rd October

Finding birds seemed an almost impossible task in very strong south-westerly wind. Almost nothing new was logged, and the best lingering birds that were seen were a single Yellow-browed Warbler, a Curlew Sandpiper and a Hen Harrier. At least 157 Redwings and 2 Song Thrushes were still present, a late Swallow was making little headway into the wind and 2 Common Terns were in Linklet Bay.

A couple of Jack Snipe were flushed from marshy areas during the day. This, at least, is one species that is no easier or harder to find in difficult weather conditions than on fine days.
